16 December 2008. Roossenekal Gelofte Fees Terrein. Afrikaners celebrate the Day of Reconciliation (as it is now called), at a venue used only for this purpose. They still refer to it as the Day of the Vow, or Geloftedag. Tannie Tokkie Roux on the piano. A minor crisis threatened proceedings when the attendants had to vote whether to continue celebrating the day at this site or elsewhere. Theft and vandalism is a major issue and the committee have to continuously repair or replace missing "zinks" on the roof of the memorial hall.
